Researcher in late nineteenth century French literature, with a special focus on Émile Zola and Guy de Maupassant. My main interests are in representations of social spaces and landscapes in literature—gardens, farmland, castles, Paris and its suburbs. This work often intersects with other disciplines, art history in particular. Secondary interests include captivity narratives, and representations of Paris in new media.
